CoCobalt
FerronickelA nickel rich iron alloy used in the manufacture of steel. The percentage of nickel varies from 35% - 45%, the balance being iron
GradeThe relative quantity or the percentage of ore mineral or metal content in an orebody
Heap LeachingThe construction of large heaps of crushed ore on an impermeable layer and the addition of agents such as sulphuric acid to dissolve the metal constituents
HydrometallurgyThe treatment of ores, concentrates, and other metal bearing materials by wet processes, using the solution of some component, and its subsequent recovery from solution
IndicatedThat part of the mineral resource for which tonnage, densities, shape, physical characteristics, grade and mineral content can be estimated with reasonable confidence from exploration, sampling and testing information
InferredThat part of a mineral resource for which tonnage, grade and mineral content can be estimated with a low level of confidence from geological evidence and assumed continuity
LateritesLaterite is a surface formation in tropical areas which is enriched in iron and aluminium and develops by intensive and long lasting weathering of the underlying parent rock.
LeachTo dissolve into a liquid phase, metals such as nickel, cobalt and iron using sulphuric acid as the leach medium
LimoniteHydrated oxides of iron with poor crystalline characteristics
MeasuredThat part of a mineral resource for which tonnage, densities, shape, physical characteristic, grade and mineral content can be estimated with a high level of confidence from exploration, sampling and testing information
MetamorphosedThe action by which an existing rock is altered by mineralogical, chemical and structural adjustments in response to changes in temperature, pressure or shearing stress
MtMillion tonnes
NickelNickel is silvery white in colour, melting at 1453oC. It is hard, malleable, ductile, has magnetic properties and is a fair conductor of heat and electricity.
OxideA compound of oxygen with another element
ProbableThe economically mineable part of an Indicated mineral resource, which will include diluting materials and allowances for losses which may occur when the mineral is mined
ProvenThe economically mineable part of a Measured mineral resource, which will include diluting materials and allowances for losses which may occur when the mineral is mined
PyrometallurgyThe winning or refining of metals in which heat is used, as in roasting and smelting
TectonicRelating or pertaining to the processes involved in movement of the plates that make up the Earth's crust
